Not on-road-traffic, traffic-jam or traffic-light, NO!!!... God NO !!! It's internet traffic; a relative meaning of how many visitor are coming to your website...

Did you notice, all the three types of Money Generating Method have one thing in common, they all require a decent traffic into your website. This can be achieved by pleasing the Almighty Three (Google, Yahoo and MSN... No... No... you don't have to worship them though), you need to know these searches engine's requirements to get into their high ranking list.

Before we go any further, think about how do you manage to sell your product (whether an Affiliate product or your own product) to about 1.5 billion internet user worldwide (I get that figure from an earliest seminar I attended to... I think). Just think about only 0.1% of it are your potential customer... Whoa...

Hold on that thought!!! There's much more to learn here... This is where traffic generation comes to play, there's no point of selling stuff where people can't find your stuff...

How to get Noticed by Search Engine?

1. Using Meta Command

Most people would agree that offering Keywords of your webpage is important. Whether a search engine required it or not, the Keywords are used to give the best description of your Website, so choose your keyword carefully. You can put your keyword into your website by placing a META Command...

Note:

1. Keywords are word(s) that Search Engines used to search your Website. Try key in your keyword in http://www.google.com/trends to check for its popularity...
2. Popular keywords may increase the chances of your website to be visible in the eye of search engine.
3. Don't put keyword which have nothing to do with your page, some search engine might restrict your page from their index database.
4. Don't rely on your keywords alone to get traffic. Correct me if I'm wrong; I've once read that Google check for about 500 parameters to rank a website.
   Check your website with SEO* (Search Engine Optimizer - will be explained later)

2. Using Advertisement for your Website

Well, the fastest and easiest way to get traffic is by using advertising. Like a 'real-world' business, advertising is the best way to let people know you existed. However you have to prepare some budget for it.

There are numbers of advertising program are willing spare a little space in their website to advertise your website, for some payment of course... There are some good advertising programs offered by Search Engines, the most popular of them are:

Yahoo! Search Marketing

MSN AdCenter

Visit their website for details, their site is quite self-explanatory. Unless you have a $30 voucher from your web-hosting, be prepare for a budget of $30~$50 a month. They are like "Adsense-Inverted", they'll charge you every time a visitor click your advertisement in their page... you can set your max pay-per-click cost you willing to pay - from $0.01~$1.00 per click (your ads might not turns up if you set to $0.01 per click...)

Another type of advertising is that e-mail promoting tools where you can promote your website by sending to a list of e-mails belongs to people you don't even know... Well, I don't recommend it, your e-mail might just end-up in their spam folder.

There are FREE advertising alternatives, you can ask the webmaster of other content-related website to promote and place your link in their website and you promote their's for a change... or you can go into forums related to your site contents and title, and promote your website in it... just make sure the forum allow you to, or you'll just get ban for it... :)

3. SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) - I call it "Do-Traffic-Your-Self" Tools

Well, this is both as challenging and as it is important... The SEO will check, analyses, give grade to your website, they even comment on what you should do to improvise your website. The tools usually validate your website based on Requirements by a Particular Search Engine, the higher you grade - the better chance of getting high rank in that particular Search Engine.

For example, if SEO tools are using Google optimization standard, if you are graded high, then you'll might stand a chance of getting high ranked for a particular Keywords entered by visitor in Google (but you might not get into 1st page in google search result within two or three month)... The thing is, you just have to follow all their instruction on how to improve your website.

Try to improvise your website based on their comment, be sure the check again from time to time, because Search Engine may change their method/ policies in ranking a website... Try to get above 50 points, that's quite GOOD for beginner...

Tips:

1. Type "site:yourdomain.com" in Google search, see what Google know about your website, best do it after a couple of week after you publish your website.
2. Use Google Analytics to monitor your daily visitor status in details (try it, it's one of the best I think, compared to web hosting traffic analysis, the Google Analytics only shows traffic that of value)

4. Let the whole world know your website exist

Getting your site known to the world is quite time-consuming and a repetitive task that you would have to perform. There are many what people called social media sites you can opt to join. The best of them are www.Digg.com, www.Mixx.com, www.propeller.com and many others.

So, what does social media site have to do with Internet Marketing?

Well, basically they just let you post your article(s) in their website, and that's it... The good thing is; by posting your article, and hoping for someone would read it, there's a good chance that you'll get some lead from other 'external links'/'inbound links' into your website. This is a basic stuff you should do, most SEO programs would consider this as additional grade for your website. Just make sure you choose a good and relevant article to post, or you can post picture or video to attract people to read your article, and lead them to your website.

5. Using Google Webmaster Tools

This is actually one of the first basic step you should do to get your site listed in Google Search results. If you have registered for Google Adsense (you should have... it's FREE), you can reach the tools here under "resources" tab, there are many items you should do to get the best result for your traffic.

a. Webmaster Tools Dashboard (under Publisher Tools - in the picture) allows you to 'speed up' Google indexing process, these instructions will allow your website to be reached via Google Search.

There are detailed instruction on how to get Googlebot* efficiently crawl into your website and process the info for indexing, the best part is it not only it works for Google, but most other search engines too. Try to perform all their instructions, I promise you, this is something worth your time to work for... You can start by figuring out how to set up "robot.txt" and "sitemap.xml" - just read and follow their instruction carefully, and use HELP a lot... (this is something you should try for yourself - for your own benefit...)

Note: Googlebot is one of the bot, robot, spider OR crawler - a software / program which will seeks your website's content and report back to their "Master" that your website exist and which site/content to index. You'll see them a lot in your web hosting visitor log.

b. "Submit Your Content" to let Google know of your website existence, and get your site indexed. You can find this option under "Webmaster Central". By adding your address (URL) Google will find and eventually index your website (within 2 weeks - no guarantees by Google...)

c. To monitor your website's visitor statistic, use Google Analytics - under "Webmaster Central". You can monitor the progress of your traffic, in the charts they're provided. I bet my site, you can see the progress within 2~3 weeks if you perform all their optimization tips and instructions...

You can try other tools and functions to Optimize your website for Google Search Engine. What I have included here are the most useful stuff you should do and considered as most Basic a Webmaster should know...

If you manage to do the promotion programs I've mentioned above and join a good program, believe me... you are seeding for a "money tree", just wait and don't forget to water it (updates, upgrades, etc.)...
